At any given moment
At any given time
Somewhere out in the world
There is someone smiling.
At some point they are
Smiling, enjoying life.
At this moment you start to think,
What,
Where,
Who, and
Why, that individual is smiling.
They might be poor on the streets of a third world country, or
They might be rich in a mansion within the city of New York;
Whatever it may be,
They are happy.
They are happy to be alive.
They are happy to not have to fight.
They are happy to feel at peace.
That is why they are smiling.
They believe that to be at peace
You must first find peace within.
The life that is lived
Is not the life that you must follow.
That person across the globe is praying
Praying to remain at peace
To remain happy
Praying that one day, everyone will be smiling.
I wrote this poem based off a quote by Kate Tempest from her writing Let Them Eat Chaos. The reason I wrote about smiling, no matter what your life is like, is because we tend to forget about other countries and the individuals in those countries. We as humans tend to focus just on our lives and how we are struggling or thriving, and forget about the world that we share with others. I believe that everyone in their lives face a moment of happiness that lets them smile and feel bubbly. I understand that life happens and the cloud of darkness hovers over people, creating life unpleasing to face. But to help with those who are in need of a shift in emotions, we as a nation (the world) can help by pointing out all the good that is still floating around us each and everyday. This poem is just some random writing that I wrote in my journal, but I just wanted it to be on here for others to read and have their minds think. So I want to leave you with this question: what are you happy about? Did something come to mind? Good, use that in your life when a dirt pie hits your face.

Dearest Elena,
Wow! I am so happy I found your blog! It is so cute and just heart-warming. This poem was so so sweet, and I loved the comparisons you made!
Make sure to always add punctuation in your poetry! My one suggestion would be to focus on including some transitions between the different ideas/thoughts that you had in your poem.
Awesome work, love!
Yours truly,
Liza
Dear Elena!
I love the theme of this piece. I feel like its such an important reminder especially as we go into exams and the summer. Happiness is something we take for granted, and you really illustrated this in your piece.
My only suggestion would be to focus on punctuation, to ensure that your piece flows!
Good work!
LOVE,
Zabu-E
